At the beginning of March, the CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg shared a post on his personal page about the future steps Facebook is about to take to respond to the coronavirus outbreak.
Facebook is going to give the World Health Organization as many free ads as they need to timely inform people about the epidemics and safety measures. People living in the countries with person-to-person spread of COVID-19 will receive pop-ups with the latest information from WHO or their local authorities. Besides that, the social network is addressing the issue of disinformation and exploitation of the public scare around the virus. Facebook continues to ban ads that are making money off of coronavirus concerns.
This probably isn’t the last update we need to expect from Facebook, as they are searching for other ways to help to address the issue. It’s great to see the platform with such a huge active users’ base using its power with such thoughtfulness.
