Facebook Removes More Accounts and Pages Due to CIB

Facebook shared recent updates on its efforts to prevent the misuse of the platform in April’s CIB report. Coordinated, inauthentic behavior or CIB generally seeks to manipulate the public’s opinion on different topics. With the US presidential elections getting closer, it looks like more groups are trying to use Facebook’s platforms to influence the political discussion.

In April the company took down more than 700 accounts from its main platform as well as more than 900 pages and some 200 groups. Many of these accounts and groups’ activity is traced back to countries like Russia and Iran.

As you can see from the chart above, the numbers of removals have increased compared to previous months.
