How ‘Corona’ Turned from Beer into Virus in Search

Just before all this coronavirus craze, ‘corona’ was just a beer brand from Mexico. Over time, people started searching “corona” to find information about the virus.

At the beginning of March, the coronavirus prompt started to appear above search results, but the beer brand was still among the top results. By March 20, coronavirus-related search results were the top four. By March 23, COVID-19 tab expanded, it started to display statistics as well. The first two organic search results were from WHO and NYT.
