Twitter May Start Asking Users to Read Article Before They Retweet It

Headlines don’t tell the whole story. It’s very often that journalists are using clickbait article names to lure new readers. Unfortunately, it’s extremely easy to get the wrong message if we don’t read the whole article. This problem has been very noticeable on Twitter where sometimes users retweet articles that they haven’t read and thus help to promote misinformation.

To address that, Twitter will test prompts that will appear when a user hasn’t read the article they about to retweet.

Right now, this feature will be tested on Android devices. It aims to encourage people to follow the link to a source of info they about to retweet.

It could be an effective way to address the misinformation on the platform. It’s interesting to see how real people will react to this new feature and how it will be received among users.
